Pilates Principles
"Ideally our
muscles should obey our will. Reasonably our will should
not be dominated by the reflex action of our muscles." Joseph
Pilates 1880-1967
Classical Pilates is a mind body exercise regime. We incorporate the key principles of Joseph Pilates into each workout. You have to use:
Concentration: This is vital in learning to control the body and mind. During your workout concentrate only on yourself and let go of the distractions of daily life.
Centring: Learn to stabilise, initiate and control movement from your centre.
Control: Perform each exercise without momentum to gain the greatest benefits.
Breathing: Utilise the breath to enhance movement flow. Focus on full exhalations.
Precision: Attention to detail will help break faulty movement patterns.
Flowing Movements: Never rush, work seamlessly
"With body, mind and spirit functioning perfectly as a co-ordinated whole, what else could be expected other than an active, alert, disciplined person?" Joseph Pilates 1880-1967
